Only Sanuki has a day for eating?

| Kagawa prefecture recognized July 2 as Udon Day
with a focus on Kagawa's fresh noodle industry.
The Sanuki Udon Festival is held annually on this
day. The main event of this day is the noodle consecration
ceremony that is held at Nakano Tenmangu Shrine
in Tenjin-mae, Takamatsu. After the ceremony, a
free udon reception is held in the downtown area.
This event has become quite popular with the public.
Moreover, the industry participates in a tourism
campaign group outside the prefecture. It has popularized
the noodle consecration ceremony and the free udon
reception in various parts of Japan including Kyushu,
Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya and Hokkaido. There
is also a separate noodle consecration ceremony
held at the Takimiya Tenmangu Shrine in Ryonancho,
Ayauta-gun. |
